Carrier effect of rHSA is observed in the cell proliferation in TF-1 human cells treated with Recombinant Human IL-3 in the presence of 25 µg/mL rHSA. The carrier effect due to rHSA does not alter the ED50 in this assay

Description

Product Overview

Product Name Recombinant Human Serum Albumin/HSA Protein
Target Symbol ALB
Alternative Names Albumin, HSA
Expression System HEK cell line, with no Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS)
Molecular Weight 66.5 kDa (monomer, predicted) observed on SDS-PAGE gel stained with stained using Coomassie® Blue under reducing conditions
Sequence Asp25-Leu609
Purity >98% under reducing conditions by SDS-PAGE and quantitative densitometry by Coomassie® Blue staining.
Activity The carrier effect of Recombinant Human Serum Albumin/HSA was determined by enhancement of cell proliferation using TF-1 human cells. Stout, et al. (2022) Commun Biol 5:466. Cell proliferation in TF-1 human cells was induced in a dose-dependent manner by either Recombinant Human GM-CSF or Recombinant Human IL-3 and demonstrated >25% enhancement in the presence of rHSA.
Formulation Lyophilized from sterile PBS with Trehalose, pH 7.4
Endotoxin Level <0.005 EU/1ug (<1 EU/mg) of the protein as determined by the LAL method.
Shipping Shipped at ambient temperature.
Stability & Storage 12 months from date of receipt at -20°C to -70°C, lyophilized powder. 3 months at -20°C to -70°C under sterile conditions after reconstitution. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitution Reconstitute at 1 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Function Human serum albumin (HSA) is a ~66.5 kDa, non-glycosylated plasma protein that contributes critically to physicochemical homeostasis in biochemical and cell culture systems through regulation of osmotic pressure and pH buffering capacity. HSA functions as a high-capacity carrier protein with multiple ligand-binding domains, enabling reversible binding and transport of a wide range of hydrophobic and amphipathic molecules, including long-chain fatty acids, steroid and thyroid hormones, bilirubin, and divalent metal ions. In addition to its transport functions, HSA exhibits protein-stabilizing activity by limiting denaturation, aggregation, and proteolytic degradation of labile proteins and enzymes. Owing to these combined buffering, carrier, and protective properties, recombinant HSA effectively recapitulates many of the essential biological functions of serum when used in chemically defined cell culture media.
